Can you tell us what’s behind the name Yemisul?
I’m half Nigerian and my Nigerian name is Oluwayemi, my family has always called me Yemi so I just married it with the beginning of my last name.
How long have you been DJing for and how did it all start?
I’ve been DJing for 2 years, I started for no real reason other than I felt like it. Some other friends started at the same time and we put on a night together called GIRLS because we assumed no one would book us as we’ve never played before. The party was a success and we’ve been playing ever since.
For those who don’t know, could you please describe your sound? Has it evolved much since you first started DJing?
I love to play Grime and Hip Hop but as time has gone on, I’ve realised a lot of Dancehall and Afrobeat is starting to creep in there.
